If you haven’t had the success you’re hoping for, don’t despair and think you are unfit for success. Successful people are no different from the rest of us.
They don’t have extraordinary abilities that make them more tuned to becoming more successful. Don’t think they are people who
are just too lucky in life to have doors open for them once they go knocking on them.
You see the truth is, like the rest of us, they also have their fair share of failures, disappointments and setbacks.
They also struggle to overcome difficulties and believe it or not, if you have faced rejection time and time again, they have also faced it.
The struggle in life is a struggle for all no matter who you are, where you live and what you do for a living. It is a struggle for survival with the sole aim of living a more decent life far better and above your present standards, doing the very things you love doing.
So what makes successful people different from you?
If success had just one definition tied to it ,this wouldn’t cover all the many ways it could be defined. And that is because it may mean different things to different people.
If you are working in your chosen profession, you seek to excel in that profession. And so whether you are an architect, a doctor or a lawyer, your aim is to reach the top of your profession.
Internet marketing guru and public speaker, Marlon Sanders, had this to say about aiming for the top;
” In any profession you start out among the last 10 people, at the very beginning. Now your aim is to be among the top 10 people in that same profession. That is at the top of the ladder.”
Aiming to be among the top 10 names in your profession requires you to focus on setting goals of achievements. As a blogger your starting out is at the bottom.
Your aim though, is to make your blog stand out as a blog that is recognized as being an authority blog. A blog that can be considered among the top blogs in your chosen niche. This requires you to set goals.
Why is goal setting important?
Goal setting is important because it allows you to gradually make progress towards achieving the success that you want.
Everyone sets goals for the new year. And this is because they want to start out on the right foot and get the best out of the New Year. But a few surprising facts reveal that,
a) People with written goals are 50% more likely to achieve than people without goals
b) 92% of New Years goals fail by January 15th
c) Only 3 out of every 100 adults write down their goals down on paper.

The importance of goal setting then is found in what it can do to motivate you to stand up and pursue your dreams. You know you want to get something done
but you just can’t commit yourself to gettting it done. Your lack of commitment delays you from ever moving closer to your dreams. Goal setting can be helpful in that
a) It can help you plan the order in which to work towards your dreams.
b) It can help you to see clearly what you have to do to achieve your dreams.
c) It can help you to define a time limit for achieving your goals so you can move on to the next goal if any.
If achieving your dreams of being successful at what you do is not fully marked by a rigid direction, then here are three ways to tackle the problem
1) Set goals and commit yourself to them
“The achievement of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself to it.”
Mack R. Douglas
Goal setting requires making sure you are committed to and follow up on the goals you wish to achieve. Without committment, your goals mean nothing and therefore have no value.
Want your blog to be successful? Set goals of posting contents daily, weekly or monthly depending on your life situation and the time available.
2) Go against the wind
The wind will always blow no matter what. Sometimes mildly and sometimes severely. Nothing can stop this. And so no matter what gets in your way,
no matter what situation makes achieving your dreams impossible, do not allow it to halt or divert you from the goals you have set for yourself.

Successful people make achieving goals look easy. And that’s because they never allow anything to get in their way.
They set goals and follow them all the way through. They set their focus on what they want to achieve and never allow any thing to stop them. You can do that too!
3) Stop the procrastination
Setting goals and achieving them requires doing something each and everyday towards the completion of the set goal. It requires moving without stopping. And it requires throwing procrastination out of your way. Why?
Because procrastination WEAKENS the strength of your continuity. It dumbs down any motivation you have delaying your progress.
Final consideration
So are you cut out for success? Yes you are. Is achieving that success difficult? Yes it will be marked by difficulties. But you have two choices to make,
a) Stop at the very first difficulty and give up or…
b) Commit yourself all the way through to achieving your dreams no matter what comes your way.
In the end what determines your success or failure is your mindset. And since you want to be like the already successful people who are out there,
then now is the time to change your mindset to reflect that of the mindset of the achiever or the goal getter .
